THE EUROPEAN HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANT GAMES 2020
Vitoria Gasteiz – BASQUE, NORTHERN SPAIN
8th – 12th JUNE 2020
These games are open to all Heart / Lung adult recipients. There is no qualification necessary. In 2018, GB took a team of about 60 including supporters. I think all would agree that they are very friendly and a great experience. Lynda Ellis is now team manager she is contactable on

At registration you will need to complete a medical form and be signed off fit to compete by your Transplant Unit. We will advise of this on registration.

Most direct way is a flights to Bilbao and it’s about an hour transfer, buses will be laid on
Accommodation including meals will be confirmed but there will be different options available.
Prior to registration we will recommend where the preferred accommodation for Team GB Will be.
Vitoria is a town within the Basque region of Spain surrounded by beautiful countryside and stunning scenery. It is also very close to the large rioja wine region. Excursions will be offered to the surrounding area and after our visit you should take advantage of them if possible and timetables permit.
The climate whilst we were there was warm and sunny but with colder in Mornings and Evenings. A jumper and a raincoat are advised as rain isn’t unheard of in June.
Sports Facilities
Most of the sports – Athletics, Tennis, Badminton, Swimming and a new social event – walking football are being held in a large complex on the edge of town within walking distance of accommodation but transport will be provided as well.
Swimming pool is an indoor 50 metre 10 lane pool with 250 spectator capacity. There is also an outdoor pool and a leisure outdoor pool.
The athletic stadium is an 8 lane fully equipped stadium with lots of shade and changing room on site
The tennis is being held undercover on 4 courts
Badminton and the walking football are in a large air conditioned sports hall.
The cross country run is in a large park nearby again in walking distance of the accommodation.
Volleyball and table tennis are at a sports hall about 15 minutes away
Golf is about 45 minutes away
Again transport will be included.
